Nurse Prescribers' Advisory Group
2013-2015
Published by the British Medical Association and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in association with the Community Practitioners’ and Health Visitors’ Association and the Royal College of Nursing
The Nurse Prescribers' Formulary for Community Practitioners (NPF) is designed for use by nurse prescribers such as District Nurses or Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (including Health Visitors) who have completed the nurse prescribers training scheme.
The NPF provides an overview of some common conditions together with details of the medicines that may be prescribed by Community Practitioner Nurse Prescribers for patients receiving NHS treatment.
In this latest edition, the section on laxatives has been revised and doses of macrogols for the treatment of faecal impaction have been updated.
The publication also contains details about wound management products and elasticated garments from BNF 66 (September 2013-March 2014) and Yellow Cards to assist nurses in reporting suspected adverse drug reactions directly to the MHRA.
Issued every two years, this work is designed for use with the British National Formulary.
The Nurse Prescribers' Formulary is also available as an eBook.
